RPS Presentation, December 8, 2021– Paul Ness – Young Artist Auditions Winners Performance.
Founded in 1929 to support the education and outreach programs of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), the Rochester Philharmonic League (RPL) has held and funded its annual Young Artist Auditions for high school musicians since 1955. While usually held in person at the Eastman School of Music, this year’s competition was conducted virtually, with video files submitted by contestants to be viewed remotely by judge panels of accomplished professional teachers and performers.
Forty-six accomplished high school students from the Greater Rochester Area competed for a total in $5,500 in cash awards and scholarships. RPS members will be treated to performances by two of the winners of the competition at the December luncheon, Amy Feng and Emma Grace Wade. Pittsford Sutherland student, Amy Feng, is the Grand Prize winner of the Young Artist Auditions and will perform several piano pieces for the group. As the Grand Prize winner, she will also have the opportunity for a solo performance with the RPO. Emma Grace Wade attends Mercy High School and earned the Tessa Martin Award for Female Vocalists and will perform several soprano pieces. These talented musicians should provide RPS with a beautiful start to the holiday season.
