RPS Presentation, January 14, 2025– Michael Geiger – US Border Patrol-
Immigration is a top of mind topic for many Americans, not just this year, but for the past 5 administrations. It’s not a new issue, but it is an increasing issue based on the flow of immigrants into our country & the pressure it’s placing on limited financial & human resources necessary to process, feed, house, & provide social services for them. The obvious symptom is the flow of people at the US Mexican border. However, the root cause goes to the narco-terrorist states of Guatemala, El Salvador, & Honduras. In those 3 countries & others, elected officials are either bribed for their cooperation or murdered.
Here, in the northern border with Canada, we see other problems such as illegal immigration, drug smuggling & other issues that Agent Geiger will address shortly. Other issues include:
- Impact on border cities
- Shipping immigrants to other cities up north
- Impact on municipal & state budgets
- Building a wall
- & now a policy for deportation
Many of us don’t understand the roles of the US Border Patrol vs. what the US Coast Guard does. We have both of these organizations just a couple of miles apart near the Rochester Yacht Club. This should be a very enlightening & educational presentation.
