RPS Presentation, April 10, 2024– Wayne Goodman, Executive Director – Landmark Society of Western New York
Wayne Goodman has been the executive director of the Landmark Society of Western New York since 2011 and only the fourth in its 74-year history.
He previously was director of Indiana Landmarks’ Eastern Regional Office, where he made a reputation as a specialist in preservation planning and long-term partnerships.
Goodman’s focus is the basics of preservation with a modern emphasis on adaptive reuse of old buildings. Under Goodman’s tenure, the Landmark Society launched its Five to Revive, a list published annually that calls attention to five properties in Western New York that are in need of investment. Whether buildings, landscapes, or structures, they are significant historic aspects of our shared built environment whose redevelopment can become catalytic projects for the neighborhoods and communities that surround them. The irreplaceable historic resources listed in Five to Revive become priority projects for Landmark Society staff and programs. Recent Five to Revive lists have included the old chapel at Mount Hope Cemetery, the Hotel Cadillac, Willard State Hospital in Seneca County and the John Wenrich Cabin at Wesley Hill Nature Preserve in Ontario County.
Mr. Goodman will discuss the Landmark Society and its successes and goals for the future.
